Hand over a search-support task without losing context
Pass on the current state, the next action, and the limits of what is known.
AI-assistedNo one should have to reconstruct a task from scattered messages when taking over from a tired relative. A short handoff protects continuity and gives the outgoing helper permission to rest. Use the agreed private coordination channel.
Summarize the state of the task
Begin with its purpose and what has already happened. Include the relevant reference or link, the people contacted, and any promised follow-up. Clearly distinguish a completed action from an expected response.
For example, “the correction request was sent at 3 pm; no acknowledgement yet” gives the next helper a usable starting point. “The report is fixed” would overstate the same situation.
Identify the next decision
List the next action and any condition that should change the plan. Include the responsible authority's instructions where relevant, with the time they were received. Avoid paraphrasing them so loosely that their meaning changes.
- Current task and agreed scope.
- Completed actions.
- Outstanding replies or questions.
- Next action and owner.
- Location of supporting records.
Transfer access carefully
Use the platform's proper access process if someone needs to manage an account. Do not pass passwords through a family chat. Share only the records required for the task.
The receiving helper should confirm that they understand what remains to be done. If an urgent safety concern emerges, contact the appropriate emergency service directly; it should not wait for a scheduled handoff or a coordinator to return online.
