Why an AI explanation still needs checking

A fluent description of a photo comparison is not independent evidence.

AI-assisted

An AI system can produce a detailed explanation of why two images look similar. The fluency of that explanation does not make every observation accurate. Review the underlying images and information rather than treating confident language as verification.

Separate observation from inference

A description may mention clothing, facial features, or an apparent age. Check whether the feature is actually visible and whether lighting or image quality could affect the interpretation. Do not accept an inferred identity, relationship, or personal background merely because it appears in a polished paragraph.

The explanation may be based on only a small candidate set. It cannot establish that no better candidate exists outside the records it examined.

Use a review note

  • What did the system actually compare?
  • Which stated details can a person independently see?
  • Which details are uncertain or contradictory?
  • What relevant information was unavailable?

Avoid asking the model to repeat the answer until it sounds more certain. Agreement across repeated prompts is not automatically independent evidence.

Keep the next step modest

On Wakif, an automated review should be treated as a possible-match aid where the feature is available. It does not confirm identity or replace a responsible case contact.

Pass a relevant result onward with its limitations and source report. Do not use the explanation to justify public accusations, location exposure, or a handover. A helpful explanation can organize questions for review; it should not close those questions prematurely.
